GEMCAP® offers opportunities for qualified independent contractor drivers and Owner-Operators who share our commitment to safety, service, and professionalism.
Whether operating GEMCAP® equipment under an independent contractor arrangement or bringing your own equipment through our Owner-Operator Program, you will have access to an established transportation network, experienced dispatch support, technology, and operational resources designed to keep freight moving.
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred
- TWIC® credential required
- HazMat endorsement preferred, but not required
- Must meet applicable DOT and FMCSA qualification requirements
- Must successfully complete required screening and qualification requirements
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Ability to meet applicable physical requirements

Owner Operators
Miami, Florida
Owner operators who would like to join the Lease Program can take advantage of low commission rates, with load pay ratios starting at 80%. GEMCAP wants drivers to experience working for a company that values its drivers.
Qualification Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age required per DOT regulations
- 2 years of driving experience preferred
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- HazMat Endorsement not required, but preferred
- TWIC ID (Transportation Worker Identification Card)
- Must pass DOT pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical
- Physical activities include: standing, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.
- Must be able to provide an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Other requirements may apply

All questionsWhat do I need to apply?
You must be 21 or older, with a Class A CDL, a TWIC card and an acceptable MVR. Two years of experience is preferred, and a HazMat endorsement is a plus.
Do I need my own truck?
No. Drive GEMCAP equipment as an independent contractor, or bring your own truck through the owner-operator program.
How are drivers paid?
Loaded and empty miles, stop pay, and layover and waiting time when applicable, plus available incentives. Owner-operator load pay ratios start at 80%.
Do I need a TWIC card?
Yes. Many of our loads go into secure port areas where a TWIC card is required.
How long does pre-qualification take?
